REFF - REMIX THE WORLD! REINVENT REALITY!
Open Thursday - Saturday, 12-5pm
Private View: Friday 25 February 6.30-9pm with Live Performance by Garrett Lynch at 7.30pm
Special guests on the night: Dr. Richard Barbrook, Andy Cameron, Garrett Lynch, Quayola, and Eleonora Oreggia aka XNAME.
In a world where individuals and communities are connected via real-time technologies in a state of mutual hyper-presence, what does it mean that our interactions can be traced and viewed by people unknown to us? Can we claim these effects to consciously produce new realities and create new adventures beyond given structures and stories? Can we remix our realities?
REFF - REMIX THE WORLD! REINVENT REALITY! at Furtherfield Gallery (formerly HTTP) offers tools and strategies to explore different ways of 'being' with others physically and virtually to intervene in the world. Let's see what we can do..." Furtherfield.
Italian artist duo Art is Open Source (AOS) and Fake Press will present an ongoing exhibition of their latest project, REFF (RomaEuropaFakeFactory). REFF presents itself as a fake institution, designing crafted applications and invasive practices; a book; an urban performance; and an augmented reality drug that creates alternative, stratified, mashed-ups, remixed worlds. In the AOS scenario the drug reinvents reality and the artists are “pushers”, distributing an illegal substance around the world.

offf festival
OFFF is an entity in continuous transformation, alive and evolutionary. More than a decade ago, it was born as a post-digital culture festival; a meeting place to host contemporary creation through an in depth programme of conferences, workshops and performances by the most relevant artists of our time.
These days, OFFF keeps being a reference event throughout the world. A festival hosted in Barcelona, New York, Lisbon and Paris which has featured renowned artists such as Joshua Davis, Stefan Sagmeister, John Maeda, Neville Brody, Kyle Cooper, The Mill, Digital Kitchen, Ben Fry & Casey Reas, Golan Levin, Chris Milk, Rob Chiu, Julien Vallée, Paula Scher, Rick Poynor, Erik Spiekermann, Dvein, Erik Natzke, Vincent Moon, Ze Frank, Alex Trochut, among others…The festival where a new generation of artists has originated and developed. All of them started attending OFFF as spectators. Today, they take up its main stage.
The OFFF phenomenon has also produced the creation of an extensive international network of artists, developers, theorists and even more importantly, people who love art in all its multiple expressions: students, fans, professionals and the curious. People who want to show what they do, to discover what others do and, above all to share their knowledge and their desires to inspire and to be inspired.
Additionally, the OFFF network includes a teaching centre, OFFF Atelier, a continuous presence in the web 2.0 and a permanent group of artists, organizers and producers ready to host OFFF events wherever they are in demand.

ESCOLAB

Interferenze
This year, in its fifth edition, Interferenze offers an unusual writing of the natural environment which, through rural landscapes, outlying lands and the "inappropriate places" catches a glimpse of the ultimate sense of a complex action of a semantic reclaiming of identity and sustainability of territories.
"Rural 2.0" is a new way of looking at rurality starting from the territory itself, but overcoming it's mere sense by communicating it as a mirror through which it is possible to read our contemporary times even in the aspects related to urban cultures; it allow us to see it as a way of life that opens up to a metropolitan dimension and to its fast changes, giving value not only gives to the impact on the environment but as well on society and culture.
In this sense, the rural territory is seen as a (new) medium through which we are able to re-draw and re-read the environment through an open and unique perception of boarder areas, such as cultural, aesthetic and social spaces.

PROYECTOR 2010
